Founder of Wocal

Founder letter

Hi,

My name is Andrew, I’m the founder of the new upcoming platform that helps people work local.

Wocal.

This is the first founder letter, I guess an introduction to Wocal and the journey so far.

So let me go back in time to around April 2019.

I was working as freelance videographer, most of the time I would be working from home doing editing. I would say that I have probably worked from home for at least 6 years.

Working from home was great at first, but it got lonely and I started to hate looking at the same four walls.

My home became the one place for everything.

My office, a place to eat, a place to sleep and a place to chill and although that might be great for many people, I could tell it was affecting my mental health.

So I decided to break it up and decided to start working local.

I would often travel around 4 times a month going in to Newcastle or other cities to work from.

I could tell that it was making a difference in my productivity and creative thinking, in fact as I write this I sit in a coffee shop (coffee trader) yet when I tried to write this up at home a few days ago, every time I went to start the founder letter I just kept getting brain block.

However, there was a few issues about working local.

  1. You buy a coffee and then discover the WIFI is terrible
  2. Trying to get a plug socket was a nightmare

All of a sudden, you’ve spent more money, not got as much work done and still looking for the next best workspace. So I wanted to make it easier for anyone to find local workspace with the required WiFi, power socket and great food & coffee.

Wocal - Work Local

Today, workplaces are more dispersed than ever. This makes it difficult for people to collaborate and connect with one another.

We’re bringing the workplace back to where it all began – in local hospitality venues – providing a low-cost, high-quality work environment that’s accessible to everyone.

We want to help the millions of people who work remotely by establishing Wocal – the new place to work, meet and exchange ideas. In addition to providing a space for remote workers, we are creating a network of local hospitality venues that will allow people from different cities and countries to work together in person, bringing you more local workspace and opportunities at your fingertips.

Benefits of being part of a local engaging community

The internet has made it easier for people to connect with people from all over the world, by using google meet, zoom, and other online tools, But there is something special about being part of a local community.

In today’s world where we are constantly bombarded with information and data, so it’s important to have a support system that you can rely on.

Working local is a new trend that has been emerging in the last few years. It’s a great way to live a more sustainable lifestyle and it can also help you to reduce your carbon footprint.

While you work locally you also contribute to your local economy by spending money in your local community, supporting local businesses. Which can provide job opportunities for other people while staying present and in touch with your local community.

The benefit of using Wocal is to start being part of a passionate and engaging local business community we’re building connections with people who share your values and interests and share your knowledge, expertise, and experience with others. While getting the support you need from people who are going through the same things as you.

For many people, these benefits are worth more than any monetary compensation they could receive and can contribute to the betterment of our mental and physical health.

In this digital era, it is easy to feel disconnected from our local community. We’re so busy on our phones and computers that we forget to actually get out and be social with everyone living in their own little bubble.

It can be hard for us to find someone with the same interests as us. But that doesn’t mean we should give up on finding a community that can support and influence our growth.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes we feel like we are alone in the world with our struggles. But, it’s not true. We just need to find people that are willing to listen and support us in our journey and vice versa.

The best way to be successful is to find your strengths and use them to help others.

Wocal will help you find a local community that will help you grow by looking at what you’re passionate about and then finding a local community around it. By doing this, you are not only connecting with like-minded people but also supporting the local economy while also having access to a wealth of knowledge and resources that you wouldn’t have otherwise had access too.
